Background

Scottish Care Information – Diabetes Collaboration (SCI-DC) is the national suite of products designed to underpin the Managed Clinical Networks for diabetes in Scotland. It provides a shared electronic patient record to deliver IM&T in support of treatment of people with diabetes in Scotland.  Since 2002 it has been successfully supporting the needs of the diabetes community in providing clinical information, support for diabetic screening services and the provision of data for national and local audit programmes. All SCI-DC products are developed, maintained and supported by the SCI-DC Team based in NHS Tayside. The SCI-DC system is currently made up of the following core products:

  • SCI-DC Network
The central diabetes disease management database system and website.
  • SCI-DC Clinical System
    The hospital clinical diabetes system.
  • SCI-DC Validation
A laptop based database for the purpose of manual validation.
  • GENIE
Generic Importer/Exporter communication and synchronisation software.

During 2011/12 these products will be replaced on a Health Board by Health Board basis with a single product “SCI-Diabetes“.
